Covid Recovery Statement as at 16.11.21

CEIAG continues to be high on the agenda at BHS, and now, more than ever, our students need to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to tackle a challenging and fast moving world of work.

To do this now, and post Covid, we will have to continue to adapt some of our provision, to ensure that we are meeting our statutory requirements.

We were of course delighted to achieve the Quality in Careers Standard (QiCS) on 19th May 2021 which certified that we were fully meeting all the accreditation criteria incorporating the Gatsby Benchmarks, for the national quality award for our careers education, information, advice and guidance provision.    However, we are mindful of the fact that we are still operating in uncertain times and we are doing all we can to continue to meet the needs of all our students.

While some of our in-house activities have resumed this term such as having visiting speakers, a Super Learning Day and some workplace visits, we appreciate that employer engagement is still more difficult to achieve face to face, so we continue to use on-line facilities for some events. As part of the recovery plan, and to engage students with CEIAG, regular updates & messages via our Parents App – MCAS, emails and Google Classroom posts are shared, to encourage pupils and parents, to access our careers support.

Individual & group interviews in Year 11 and post-16, with the Careers Adviser, Lindsy Walker, are now well under way and post-16 students can book appointments on-line.

As we are in an ever evolving situation, CEIAG plans may be subject to change.  For upcoming events, please refer to the School Calendar.
